Decorating With Art
0.0sMy inspiration:
I am an Irish artist, based in my studio in the south of France. My work reflects my love for my home and the
beautiful landscape of the Tarn valley.
Creating a sense of “home and belonging” is central to my work, which is symbolized by the blue and white china
in my paintings. My intention is to share a feeling of nostalgia and quiet wonder with the viewer. I want my art to
connect on a subconscious level with a lost memory or feeling of deja vu - much like a scent or music can
transport us to magical moments in the past.About Me....
I have been a creator all my life. As a child I was constantly drawing
and painting and that passion followed me through school, and into
my career. I was an interior designer for many years and a florist for a
time. Making things and re-imagining my surroundings is what makes
me tick.
My home and the world around me inspire me everyday. The motifs in
my work like the blue and white pottery symbolise my home; while the
flowers and other floral elements in my work, connect me with a sense
of well being and comfort I absorb from nature.
I have been fortunate to have lived in China, Singapore and now in
France and I can see the influence of all these cultures in my work
alongside my Irish heritage.
My sense of colour and design was developed in my career as an
interior designer and florist, my techniques owes a lot to my time in
China where I learned to paint in ink, and my subject matter comes
from my love of the landscape in Ireland and France.Shows:
